MONSTROUS MASK REVIEWS: Original Grim Skull by Zagone Studios

Skull masks have been a staple ever since masks first started being made. There is just something very mysterious and eerie about them. Most mask companies feature at least one mask of the human skull in their catalog; some offer many. Zagone Studios, formerly Be Something Studios, offers quite the variety and in my opinion, they are among the best ever made available.

For this MONSTROUS MASK REVIEW, I am covering The Grim Skull, also known as the Hooded Skull when it was originally released in the 1970s. This mask features a classic skull design, sculpted by Bill Ystrom. The hood gives it a great Grim Reaper look and for this character, it is one of my favorite sculpts.

The mask I am using for this review is the deluxe version that is available if you ask for it. It is manufactured completely by Anthony Zagone and is even signed inside. This is by far the best version of this mask that I have ever seen. When it arrived, I was completely blown away by how amazing it looks. The paint job is very realistic and beautifully done.

One I thing I will say about Zagone Studios is that their work is always consistent and their customer service is the best I have ever had the pleasure of working with. I have found myself very nostalgic for the masks they sold in the 1970s and 1980s and thankfully, even if they do not offer them on their website, they are more than happy to make one up for you. I now have four of these limited edition pieces and they are the showcase of my collection.

Once again I am very happy with what I have received from Zagone Studios. Since the beginning, as Be Something Studios, their masks have all been made in the United States and the quality has never been compromised. Order from them with confidence.
