Put on the ritz and get ready to roll in the hay this Saturday, November 7, as Svengoolie presents Mel Brooks’ 1974 comedy-horror masterpiece, Young Frankenstein!
Gene Wilder stars as the brilliant, highly excitable Dr. Frederick Frankenstein (that’s Fronk-en-steen!), who inherits his infamous grandfather’s Transylvanian estate and inadvertently resumes the family business of reanimating the dead. Shot in stunning black-and-white using Kenneth Strickfaden’s original laboratory props from Universal’s 1931 classic, this loving parody features an all-star comedic ensemble including Marty Feldman as the hump-shifting Igor, Teri Garr as Inga, Cloris Leachman as Frau Blücher (neighhh!), Madeline Kahn as Elizabeth, and Peter Boyle in his iconic tap-dancing turn as the Monster.
Between the brain transfers and the blind priest’s soup, the Sven Squad will be on hand with their own “Abby Normal” antics, serving up riotous monster puns, hilarious behind-the-scenes trivia, and a colossal barrage of flying rubber chickens. Don’t touch that dial—tune in to MeTV at 7P | 6C for an evening of timeless, monstrous laughter!
