BASEMENT PRODUCT REVIEW: Amazon Basics Portable Foldable Photo Studio Box with LED Light

I wanted to share with my readers a product I recently discovered that has been a game changer for me when it comes to photography. My website is picture heavy, especially with my MONSTROUS MASK REVIEWS series. Up until recently I was photographing these masks outdoors on a sunny day, in the shade. Though the pictures came out ok, I was never completely satisfied with the results. After doing some research I found the Amazon Basics Portable Foldable Photo Studio Box with LED Light.

There are many of these available to buy but for me, I needed something large enough to correctly display the Halloween masks I wanted to photograph. The size I got was 25 x 30 x 25 inches and for 99% of my masks, it works perfectly. The Studio Box arrived in two days and was thrilled with the quick shipping time. At first when I took it out of the box, I thought it was too big but once I started using it, I was glad I didn’t go with a smaller size.

Putting the Amazon Basics Portable Foldable Photo Studio Box with LED Light together is a breeze. After removing the power cord from the pouch on the side of the unit, you then undo the Velcro securing flaps on the two sides. The box then can be very easily opened. Once open there is a firm panel that falls into place, securing the structure so that it does not collapse.

Along the back of the unit is a white backdrop fabric held together by Velcro. When released half of the fabric becomes the floor and the other half is the back. I would’ve preferred a variety of backdrop colors like other units have, but find that the white works really well with the masks. If I really want to go with black, I can always make one at a later date.

On the top of the Amazon Basics Portable Foldable Photo Studio Box with LED Light is a fabric flap that then drops down over the front of the unit, enclosing it. Once set, there are 4 covered areas from which to take the photos. All areas feature a magnetic seam so that when you open the flap it stays open. There is one of these opening on top of the unit. so that you can photograph your subject from up above. Then there are three openings in the front, one on top of the other, so that you have three options of where to shoot from.

I have been using my iPhone to take the pictures and it works really well. The picture above is how I was taking the pictures, without the use of the photo studio box. The picture below is taken with the box, showing how much better it looks. To me the difference is like night and day and shows the difference between amateur and professional looking photos.

It’s not often that I review a product like this. The reason I am is because I feel so strongly about it. If you do any kind of photography with inanimate objects, I cannot recommend the Amazon Basics Portable Foldable Photo Studio Box with LED Light enough! Good luck with all of your photography!
