MONSTROUS MASK REVIEWS: The Duchess of Devonshire Mask by Lord Grimley’s Manor

Lord Grimley’s Manor has done it again! They have created a mask that is not only of a great quality, but it is also one of the creepiest masks I have ever seen! Though I have frequented the Manor’s website and eBay store, prior to this year I had not seen any of their exclusive masks in person. They continue to blow me away. The Duchess of Devonshire by Lord Grimley’s Manor is a must-have.

The Duchess of Devonshire is just an amazing mask, on so many levels. Sculpted by Anders Lerche, the detail is just amazing. This design could be used for anything from a corpse to a ghost. The sunken eyes are so effective and the gaping mouth is terrifying. The extra details such as sculpted earrings and collar just add so much to this character. This may be my favorite mask of the 2021 season.

The sculpted details are enhanced by the amazing paint job. The contrast of the sunken eye sockets and yellowish eyes is awesome; they look like they are staring right through you. The gaping mouth, with its sharp teeth, would make anyone run in terror. The skin is painted in a combination of liver spots and rot spots, just compliment and contrast the rest of the mask beautifully. This may be the first time I say that a mask has built in atmosphere.

Lastly I want to talk about the hair work. This touch is wonderful. The sculptor could’ve gone the easy route by sculpting the hair (though is hair easy to sculpt) but instead, the Manor has gone with “real” hair. I am guessing that it is a wig but regardless, it looks great with the curls, harkening back to the 1800s. I think this mask is movie quality and if used in a yard haunt could be quite effective, especially with the right lighting.
