Though I don’t collect latex Halloween masks like I used to, I still love each summer when the new offerings become available. I still get excited at the new designs and can still remember the smell of a new mask when you take it out of the box for the first time. Ahhhh…memories! In the last few years I have become a huge fan of the exclusive offerings of Lord Grimley’s Manor, one of which is the subject of this edition of MONSTROUS MASK REVIEWS.

Vampiress, sculpted by Anders Lerche, came out for the 2024 season and it does not disappoint. It is a 3/4 mask, as opposed to a full, over-the-head design. It also includes a strap which allows the mask to fit perfectly onto your head. The hair is a sewn on wig, that hides the fact the the mask only comes about halfway down the back of your head.
Anders Lerche’s sculpture is absolutely terrifying. Though I took these pictures in a light box, its appearance would look horrifying in subdued lighting (like peeking through a neighbor’s window at night). The original catalog picture featured blue eyes but thankfully they went with full black. The details around the mouth is what makes this mask.

The teeth look very sharp and intimidating. The blood splatter is a combination of blood in the mouth as well as deep gouges in the cheeks. This mask is very comfortable to wear and breathing was easy, despite me being an asthmatic. I have always believed that 3/4 masks help tremendously when wearing a mask. The vision holes, just above the painted eyes, are just enough to see out of (of course keep in mind that you will still have blind spots on both sides of your head).
As a side note, I cannot compliment Lord Grimley’s Manor enough. Sure they sell other companies’ masks and props but it is their exclusive offerings that go above and beyond expectations. What you see in their online photos is what you get! If you like it in the picture it will look even better in person. As of this writing this mask is sold out for the season. I do have it available though by clicking here.
