In the past few years, a handful of mask have really stood out to me as being excellent. Not only are they well made, but their appearance is very effective. Last Night Pumpkin, by Ghoulish Productions, is one of these masks. It’s a simple design, well made, and very affordable. The premise is that this is how your pumpkin will start to look the day after Halloween, where it is starting to rot.

Sculpture
Though I do not know who actually sculpted this piece, it is really well done. The look of a real pumpkin is accurate and the details around the eyes, nose, and mouth are perfect. You can even see areas where an animal may have started chewing on it, which we all know happens often. The pumpkin texture is also very realistic, though this detail may be missed if worn in the dark.

Paint Job
Ghoulish Productions have always been good at their paintwork. The orange is very natural looking and shows depth. Other colors are mixed in to help accentuate the texture and all around it just works really well. The “carved” areas really capture the dried out look of pumpkins after a day or so of being carved. Even the stalk looks realistic, though I would’ve preferred more texture.

Quality/Wearability
The quality is excellent. In addition to the great paint job, it’s a relatively thick pour. This means you will have this mask for many years. The addition of black mesh in the eyes and nose are a great touch. I would’ve also liked to have seen this in the mouth hole as well, but this is a very minor complaint. This is a 3/4 mask, as seen in the profile pictures. It fits nicely, though can feel loose at times. If you add some foam padding inside, it should solve this problem quite easily.

Comparison to Catalog Photo
For the photos I took, I put the mask on a mannequin head. These tend to be a bit smaller than an actual human head. Because of this, the mask looks more narrow. In the catalog photo it looks more rounded and full. As mentioned above, some foam inside the mask will help this. The paint jobs on both the catalog and actual masks are very close. This is definitely one mask, if purchased, will be what you see is what you get.
Last Night Pumpkin is a winner and Ghoulish Productions should be commended. Even if you don’t want to wear it, you can stuff it and use it as a prop. At times, these are hard to come by so if you see one, definitely pick one up.
