Trick or Treat Studios continues to impress me. They bring back so many retro designs. These designs are from mask companies that are no longer in business. This is especially true with Don Post Studios, who, over the years, had so many incredible designs. These designs are re-imaginings and, in some cases, look so similar to the originals that you wouldn’t know the difference. The Glowin Ghoulies line is just amazing.
Six designs have been released so far (with hopefully more on the way). I ordered three of them (Skull, Nuclear Death, and Corpse). I was so impressed when they arrived. First, these masks are made of vinyl. They are not made of latex. (I believe the Don Post originals were also made of vinyl). Personally, I love the vinyl. The pours are thick, and these masks are heavy. I also believe that vinyl lasts a lot longer than latex.
These masks glow in the dark, which has always been a great touch. One thing I will say though is that they the masks need constant re-charging, for the glow effect. Even the use of a black light just charges the mask. I would love to see them glow continuously under a black light.

The first one I will talk about is Skull. The mask is iconic in so many ways. It was one of Don Post Studios’ most popular designs. You can also see it in the 1982 film HALLOWEEN III: SEASON OF THE WITCH. It also made a cameo in the made-for-TV movie from 1985 called THE MIDNIGHT HOUR. Skull looks as good as it ever has. The painting is excellent, creating a textured-looking surface. The glow-in-the-dark feature is a lot of fun too. A touch that I find nice is a plastic form inside the mask to help it hold its shape. It’s details like this that make Trick or Treat Studios stand out.

Next is Corpse. Justin Mabry has done a great job bringing these creations back to life. This mask is genuinely creepy and looks great glowing in the dark. The simplistic paint job works so well. It’s like stepping back in time to when these masks were originally available from Don Post Studios. All I can think of when I see this mask is it looking into someone’s window, fully charged to glow. Trick or Treat Studios needs to be commended for bringing these designs back.

Of the three that I got, Nuclear Death is my favorite. I think it has to do with both the eyes and the mouth. It just stares at you with lifeless eyes. The glowing effect on Nuclear Death is also my favorite of the three masks that I have. Every aspect of this series is amazing. The quality is excellent. Again, loving the vinyl. The sculpting is spot on. The painting, though not as detailed as on other masks, is perfect. Thank you Trick or Treat Studios!
