MONSTROUS MASK REVIEWS: Vulgaris the Drowned Clown by Lord Grimley’s Manor

Up until recently I had not been a fan of clown masks and had never gotten any masks from the company LORD GRIMLEY’S MANOR. Though they distribute other company’s masks, they also produce some of their own exclusive creations. One of these is called Vulgaris, the Drowned Clown.

When dealing with mask companies for the first time, you never know what you will actually get when buying through mail order. Will it look as good as the online photo? How’s the quality? Well I can say this. This mask exceeded my expectations in every possible way!

The story of Vulgaris is as follows: Shot and drowned this clown will not stay down! Found in the most foul and disgusting environment, like his namesake, he is known to cause wound festers and infections. Found wading in sewers in the twilight, his putrid stench precedes his arrival and lingers long after you are dead.

The sculpture, by artist Anders Lerche, is absolutely amazing. The level of detail is a wonder to look at as no matter where you look on the mask, there is something going on. From the eyes and mouth leaking swamp water to the bullet hole in the head, no detail is not thought of. The back of the mask features a blown out piece of skull, revealing black brain matter underneath. This clown is truly terrifying.

The paint and hair work is also beautifully executed, if the term beautiful can be used here. Vulgaris’ face paint is running and black ooze is coming out of every orifice. His eyes are scary as hell and even in death he looks like he can mess you up. The dirty clown hair is also a nice touch. When it comes to clowns being scary, it just doesn’t get any better than this!

I know some collectors are hesitant to buy masks online sight unseen, but I can guarantee you that you will not be disappointed here. What you see is what you get! If you like this mask, you can order your own just by going HERE! Make sure to check out my other entries in my MONSTROUS MASK REVIEWS series.
